The test of time has proven the merit of the venerable 3913/14 slim hammer-fired compacts and CS9 sub-compact DA/SA pistols.

One has to wonder if modern CNC machining and possibly a polymer frame might make these proven reliable pistols affordable again?

For those that wish to carry a slim hammer-fired sub-compact DA/SA, IMHO there's really nothing out there that compares.

Won't happen because S&W has devoted its resources to M&P pistols, 1911 pistols, revolvers, and ARs. Not enough time on the CNC machines left over for the all metal 3rd Gens.

The closest to a polymer frame 3913 is the Springfield XDE. It's a decent gun for the price, but I still prefer my 3913TSW or CS9.

Right now, I dont think its likely to happen as S&W only stopped production of the 3rd Gen pistols around 10ish years ago maybe less/more for certain models.

I do think in the future, if S&W sees the circulating 3rd Gens are still popular, selling well and in high demand I think its possible they may bring them back.

However, if you think S&W will bring them back for the same price point as before......thats gonna be a let down I imagine they will likely be $200+ or more than the original price point.

I doubt it’s coming back especially since folks trash S&W quality daily. Why would anyone buy such poor quality products as they so often assert?

I wish for a polymer frame 3rd generation. Kahr basically produces a steel and polymer frame using the same slide for both.
