Looks like Remington is offering a $50 mail in rebate on the 870
Tac 14. I know several on here own them and opinions are
mixed. The idea of having one of these things intrigues me.
But...is there really any real use for one if you already own 18"
barreled pump guns like I do? I wonder if it would be something
you might put five rounds through and stick in the back of the
safe and forget it or keep it handy in the home or vehicle?
Any advantage over a high cap full size auto for home defense?
What say you?

I'd watch Hickok45 work over his range with same and go from there. I like my Shockwave 20 gauge enough to buy shells for it by the case.

I sold the Remington Tac 13 I had, and bought the Tac 14 V 3. I like it much better. I plan on keeping it.

I like the idea of rigging one with a loop sling from the butt-carrying it over your shoulder hanging along your side under your trench coat ready to swing into action upon proper provocation. :D
I really want the V3 Tac13 but really can't quite justify it enough to pull the trigger. If I DID buy it, I'd probably shoot a box of shells through it and then put it away. The thing I like about my 18" 870 is that I can keep it loaded with chamber empty and it's ready to go with a simple rack. Do not feel comfortable having a semi in chamber empty condition with loaded magazine.
I really don't feel comfortable having a semi auto shotgun with a chambered shell leaning in the corner or behind the driver's seat of old blue.
For those reasons I will probably, with great reluctance, not buy one

The semi auto shotgun can also be made ready to go with a simple rack. Hell, it'll even slam forward on its own once you pull the bolt back. Why the reluctance to leave guns loaded? In my experience it's how they work best.
