I know this is a S&W Forum so plz forgive me for sticking this in here. I'm trying to find out the year of manufacture for my 1100 12 ga, SN 545827V. I have been all over the internet...no help. Remington Firearms will NOT answer the phone.

I know it was manufactured between 1963 & 1968 because it has no prefix letter(s). I bought this gun in 1969 at a military exchange in SE Asia. Simple question, I just want to know if the actual year can be known or is 1963-68 the best I can do?

Thanks for any help.

Al, as a collector of Remington Nylon rifles, I have the Remington date codes for month and year of manufacture. There will be two letters, which are uniform for all Remington long guns made. Here are the ones pertinent to the nylon rifles, but they will also apply to other Remington guns. You should find a two letter code on the barrel near the breech; the first one signifies the month, and the second the year. Here are the pertinent codes.

Hope this helps.

John

Let us know if you find out. If not, I have some more info that may help that I got from shotgunworld.com.

Thank for posting this. I discovered that mine that I bought from my old boss was made in September 1973.

I finally found the code that is mentioned above. Had to remove the fore end to locate it. It is "A" and "R" which makes it a Mar, 1968 manufacture. This makes sense because I purchased the gun in March, 1969. Poor stamping. At 1st I thought the "R" was a "B" but on close inspection, it is an "R". Thanks for all the help. I can now update my gun records. Al Jennings.

You must remember the date code is on the barrel only. The serial number is on the receiver. Lots of 1100's have had a barrel change. No so with rifles. If You want to date Your gun by serial number there is a website to email. Takes 2 to 3 weeks for a response.

Yes, I posted the SN above in my original post on this thread. The barrel has never been changed; it is the original one and I'm the only owner. I'm satisfied with the info I have, but thanks for the tip. Al
