Remington 88gr HP, 9mm load data

I was reading in this months Blue Press (super vel article) that an old popular trick was loading the remington 88gr HP 380 ball in 9mm and pushing it wicked fast.

Well I'm bored and midway has some of the 88s in stock, so I wanna play with it to see what I can get my Glock 26 to do.

Does anyone have load data for this?

Or even better, does anyone know of any good short barrel powders?

I don't load 9mm but I did look at Hodgedon's loading data and they have a bunch of recipe's for a 90 grain Speer GDHP. I know it's not exactly what you are interested in, however it will at least get you into the ball park.

Bullseye, 700-X, AA#2. Although a recent pound of AA#2 was surprisingly bulky. Might be too big to fit.

I've been (since the 90s') reloading the light 380 bullets (Rem 88JHP,Speer 88JHP,Sierra 90JHP) in 9mm.
My reload data won't help you as it's with SR4756 (no longer manufactured). I attained 1500fps (chronographed) from a Beretta 92FS.

I had similar results using Blue dot or Herco.......clocked around 1450 in a model 59.

I have been using light weight projectiles intended for the 380ACP in my 357SIG for decades.

I get the 90 JHPs moving right at 1,700 FPS from my X5 using a nice charge of Power Pistol

I never played much with the 9MM Parabellum and light projectiles.

Also I've loaded those in rifle 35Rem but don't have chronograph data.

Don't know who you're directing the question to,but for me,no problems. Tried mine in Beretta 92,S&W 3rd gens,Beretta storm,Sig,CZs'. No pressure signs,primers looked good,cases looked normal.

I just wasted, IMO, some money on Amazon ordering the Hornady reloading manual #9. Wasted, to me, because there is so little data in the pistol cartridge section. I'm sure a rifle shooter would be much happier. They do list 9mm loads for their 90-g XTP 9mm bullet - and for 11 powders - including Power Pistol which I have. Strictly from looking at their data - it looks like Win AutoComp and Acurate #5 are the most versatile - since they cover the full gamut of attainable velocities. I'm pretty sure I can't post a scan of that page here ... but the data is available .

Edited to add: LoadData.com is a subscription site - looks like they want $35 a year to access their info. I'm going to order an older Lyman book to see if I can get more info - HDY is lacking ...

No such thing as short bbl powders. Slower powders will give the highest vel in any bbl. You will get more flash & blast though with slower powders. Some of the older load books have 90gr-100gr data, Hogdon site does too. Back in the day, those were the most popular self defense JHP loads that could be relied upon to expand. In service length 4" tubes, you can get 1400fps easily. They will be shallow penetrators though.
