I called them up and told them I had a single barreled shotgun to send back for repair. They said great, they'd send out a label since I pressed them for one. She then asked me for the serial number, and I gave it to her- and she said it wasn't in their system. I assured her that it was a Remington 12 gauge single barrel and I wanted the headspace repaired since it was out of specifications through use, and I'd like to have it reblued while they're at it. She's sending me the label.

I wonder what's going to happen when they open the box to find a Remington No. 3 made in 1896? :D
You don't think they confused it with one of those russian jobs they were selling a while back, do you?

If they say something that they won't repair it- I'll say that S&W customers send back stuff this old all the time. ;)
(I won't say whether they repair it or not)

That brings up a good question: Is a lifetime warranty good for the lifetime of the original owner, or the lifetime of the firearm? If it's the first, you're SOL. :D

thanks for making the cost of a new Remington go up by wasting their money....

Ha Ha I think the same thing every time I read about someone sending something back to S&W for something silly.
More power to you for saying it out loud.

My understanding is that Remington does not actually do the work themselves anymore. I sent a SP-10 back for repairs and it was sent to a shop right near their location. I think it was called White Dog Gunsmithing or something like that. I have the paperwork and a card somewhere still. They were Remington employess at one time. I was very happy with the work they performed. The turn around time was very fast. When I talked to them on the phone about the problems I was having with the gun, they were very accomadating. Apparently, I had fired many more rounds, in a couple waterfowl seasons, than the average SP-10 semiauto 10 gauge encounters in several lifetimes. I was very happy with their work and would not hesitate on sending another gun to them. Joe
