Anyone have and knowledge on the quality of this gun, I've found a ton of info on the standard R1 or enhanced but the carry is hard to find info on. Found one for a good price off retail at 550 but I can also find a Ruger sr1911 or Kimber 2tone for that. So any info would be appreciated on the R1 carry vs the other 2. Thanks.

And while you're at it, discuss the std. R-1, the same size as the basic Colt Govt. Model and compare it to similar Springfield Armory models. I want to hear from people who actually own and shoot Remingtons. Where are these Remingtons really made?

Thanks.

The Remington R1s list Ilion, NY as place of manufacture.
The carry version is identical to the standard internally, being externally smoothed to reduce catching on clothing.
I don't own either, but shooting the Remington and Ruger left me with the impression of quality production firearms I would be happy to own and shoot regularly. The lightweight commander .45s are snappy and require a strong grip to shoot rapidly without slipping. The 9mms are a complete joy, smooth, mild, and easy to shoot. Nobody has showed up at the range with that particular Kimber, so I can't comment, other than I have seen some minor QC issues with some Kimbers in the last couple of years.

I have owned an R1 Enhanced SS for a couple of years and have nothing but good things to say about it. It has proven to be totally reliable and accurate. My R1 is an excellent 1911 and I would not hesitate to buy another. In fact, I have been considering the Carry Commander for a future purchase.

Only thing I've read on their website is, the carry models have a forged frame as opposed to the cast on their other R1s. It's hard to find much info on the carry model I guess because not many out there, and the fact they're over 1000 at the box stores.

The one in the photo is nice looking. I had a stainless Colt Government model, and sold it. Wish I hadn't.

I thought Remington had the Lifetime Warranty on their guns? If that's the case, then it would be worth the $550 for it, even if it had to be sent back to be tweeked at the factory.

BTW that's a screaming deal for about any carry 1911 from what I've seen. I'd love to know where to find the Ruger and Kimber for those prices too..Around here they usually sit closer to $1000.
