I know where there is a Remington Rolling Block in .43 Egyptian that has a bore that is mint, and the gun over all is in excellent condition. I know I can get stuff through Buffalo Arms to reload all my own ammo. I can't find any loading info on it though, and what this gun is worth. The seller wants $650, but he has been trying to sell it for a long time, so I am thinking of offering him $500 to see what he does, but only if it is worth it.

I did a search during the halftime show and found several from different dealers. I put in .43 egyptian remington rolling block for sale. I found several from $339 to $499.

Seems like people used to use 11mm Mauser loading data as a starting point or reference,,but I could be wrong.
11mm Mauser is sometimes called .43 Mauser. Research might turn up some comparisons.

Just use BP and it's easy!

I'd grab it in a heartbeat at $500. There is info and a few loads listed in Barnes Cartridges of the World and PO Ackleys Handbook for Shooters and Reloaders. Huntingtons also has brass.

I bought one of those suckers a while back, mail order, sight un-seen but I trusted the guy.

He didnt know what caliber and I figured it was the 43 Spanish or Mauser but when I got it there was no cal. listed on the gun. NONE. I did a chamber cast, did the messurements and found out it was a 44-90 Sharps bottle neck.

I like using Trailboss cause I'm too lazy to do the scrubing after black powder.

I think I settled on 12 grns with a 360 grn bullet. I found the cast bullets have to be cast pretty soft, pure lead works great.

I love Rolling Blocks. Just look in my safe! The Egyptian is a favorite. If you slug the bore you'll find it's Not .43 cal. It's usually .451-.452".
We had good results .451" pistol bullets (250-300gr). Cast and jacketed. Remember, custom molds cost a lot.
I don't have the load data at hand but here are your choices.
Moderate loads of pistol powder will work.
Or you can fill the case with ffg black powder. That always works.

With trailboss, as I understand it, it is hard to overload a cartridge enough to cause a Kaboom, as long as you are not using a compressed charge. Just fill the thing up to the base of the bullet and shoot. This is assuming good brass and a decent action.

$500.00 for a rolling block in good shape is a decent price. It can always be easily rebarreled in 45-70 or 40-65, or 38-55.

That would be neat-having a Rolling Block in .45-70. I've always been fascinated by this rifle.
