In July of last year we ordered new kitchen cabinets for the home we bought in Florida. We stayed with our son for the first month or so, but since the cabinets were due to arrive in early October, we moved into the house in September and decided to rough it for a month or so. How bad could it be, right?

Cabinets arrive in mid October, great..not so great. Three cabinets short, including the corner cabinet, one end cabinet, and one for the island....ok, Lowes says they'll be in in November, in time for Thanksgiving....now mind you, we already ordered and paid for appliances and countertops by then, but that had to wait, since you can't install those things without the cabinets.

November, nope. Then December, in time for Christmas...Cabinets arrive, but two of the three are the wrong size, ordered incorrectly from the start.....So, we have Christmas with dinner prepared up the road at my son's place and I call Lowes and tell them to get the replacements on order asap.

After the New Year, I call and ask for status, and they say, "Mr. L, we can't order the new ones until we pick up the wrong ones'.... trip to store, talk to manager, expedite replacement cabinets.....they arrive in mid February...Oops, wrong size again. Check my drawings from which the designed, my dimensions are correct. So now we are expediting for the second time, and finally the correct size cabinet arrives and just a week and a half ago we finally have al the cabinets. Rush the countertop guys, get the appliances delivered, Now we wait a week to get propane company to hooked up the stove and check out the newly installed line..

Long story short, for the first time, I am getting a real home cooked, oven cooked meal in the home, which I have owned since June.

Thank you for listening,

Note to self: next time...custom cabs from local shop....;)

Exactly what I was thinking. Everyone, I mean everyone I know who got cabinets, etc., from Depot or Lowes had problems. If it's for a forever home, & I was younger, I'd go for the quality of a local shop. Two for one windows and 2 years same as cash is not a good move, either, apparently. If you're doing a fix-up to sell, I suppose carpeting/flooring could be okay.

I would still be eating dinner in the
County Jail.
So far I have remained calm and courteous. I have put them on notice that I expect a significant refund to compensate me for the additional cost incurred buying prepared foods for 5 months. We'll see how that goes...if it doesn't, I will be a Home Depot customer after 35 years of using Lowes almost exclusively.

Cant say they are much better! A few client nightmares!

My niece and her husband ordered a stove in October of 2020 for their vacation home remodel, it just arrived.

Anything and everything to do with construction is running behind. Materials just are not available. It's not so much the shortage, it's the backlog. Homes and condos/apartments are going up everywhere here. Our original delivery date for hurricane windows went from 10-12 weeks to six months. Ten-window order does not get the delivery priority a 1000-window order does. Finally found some with a 7-week delivery--at $2000 more. Need an electrician? He'll try to get by in two weeks. Prices are sky high for everything.

Just informed on Monday that servers and other control processors that were ETA in October are now December or possibly 2023.

So glad I retire at the end of April.

We didn't have the supply chain delays we have now, but I did have the same problem 25 years ago with fit and wrong stock numbers with Home Depot made to order cabinets. Twice they shipped me corner cabinets horribly out of square, and a couple of upper end cabinets came with the show end raw secondary wood instead of finished cherry. Like OP, the complete remodel required other trades on a schedule to follow on, and since I was still working then, had to take vacation time to install the cabs myself in order to keep to schedule since my installer had other jobs scheduled. After twice having both out of square corner cabs replaced on warranty and receiving more out of square cabs, I gave up and broke the glue joints, made up square gussets, hand planed the floor edge square, reglued and clamped the things, and got on with installation. Those cabs are still doing well, but if I have to do it again, I'm going with sjbrdn to a local cab shop.

54 three story town homes going up near me. At one point there were 4 framed buildings waiting on trusses so they just framed the next ones while they waited. There are now three finished buildings still waiting on garage doors. I'm glad I'm retired too. Just trying to deal with Home Depot for my little projects has me walking right back out the door lol

Ordered a new gas range and dish washer from Lows Sept last year. Still waiting for them. Understand that they have arrived at store but they can't seem to get them delivered. Looks like I may have to borrow a truck and pick them up myself.
