Had to tap it fairly heavy with a plastic piece protecting the slide and striker block and it dropped down. Not sure what it was hung up on but now it goes in and out very easily.
Man, it was really cruddy, nasty and dirty! But the ultimate reason causing light striker hits was due to the fact that the striker (or firing pin) was broken completely in 2! Can't imagine why because probably not more than 1000 rounds through it.
But, I called Smith and Wesson Customer Service and they said "no problem, we will send you a new one right out. No charge, covered by warranty." Wow ! Was I ever surprised. Said they will send a new spring too but they are out of stock right now and will send it when they get them back in stock. No reason I can think of that the old spring won't still work so I'll just keep using it for now.
Second time I have had to deal with Smith and Wesson Customer Service and they are absolutely outstanding.
