I needed to remove 10 pairs of XTM rail panels today from my rifle and was kind of dreading it. I had heard that they were difficult to get off. However, I used my takedown pin punch to pry them off in seconds with no damage. It is a good little tool, thought I'd pass the tip along to anyone who might be interested.

I believe the little notch is for using a .223 round to pop them loose.

They're not too bad, I use a small punch or mini screwdriver or whatever I have laying around.

don't dig or pry very much. Work on the same plane as the XTM panel-and it's counter-clockwise.

Since I don't shoot .223 and other metal tools can cause marring, I've resorted to the blunt end of some disposable wooden cooking skewers I found in the kitchen. They worked pretty well and I've been able to take off 16 pair a couple times before they start to flex and splinter and need to be thrown away. I'll definitely have to consider the delrin punches next time I place an order. Great price too. Thanks for the info!

Only pry the two halves apart about a 1/16 inch or less. Then they come off the rail in one piece and go right back on.
