They are a joy to work with, have reasonable prices, and are extremely helpful.
Their youtube channel was invaluable during the rebuild. It was like Barry was there with us the whole time, calling out part numbers from memory as he demonstrated how to do the job. Unfortunately he passed away a little while ago. His family still runs the business though.
I would recommend an Acer E mill 3VS head. That is a bolt on replacement for a Bridgeport head. The variable speed is done electronically rather than mechanically. It is far superior to the J2 BP heads with the Reeves pulley drive.
I get a monthly trade magazine with an ad for those. I don't have one right now, I read and recycle them. I should have another one soon, and can give you the contact information at that time. In the meantime, you can go to Springwood Industrial, Inc. and look at the Acer 3VS E mill to learn about it. The ad in the magazine is for just the head, but the whole machine is better than a Bridgeport. I have run manual BPs for 30 years as a tool & die maker and rebuilt 6 of them at places I worked for. This is not second hand information.
