I'm being sent a Model 60 snubby, .357 (2 1/2" Brl) from a friend and know it has the simplest black, fixed blade front sight. Guessing it is an integral part of the barrel.

Can a good Gunsmith replace it with something more distinct, even if just a ramp with red, or better yet, some kind of Novak like Fiber Optic sight, or even a Gold Dot .... anything better than that small black blade.
Is that the kind of work Smith & Wesson would do if I took it to them, which is an option as I live not far away from Springfield.

Any suggestions on a Gunsmith in the Hartford, CT. area that would do a good job at this?
Thanks

It should be a pinned front sight, easily removed and replaced with any one of many options. I'm currently using the Meprolight night sight, but have also used the XS Big Dot (didn't like it). Looked at a new S&W J frame at the gunshop the other day that had a real nice factory fiber optic front sight on it.

Thanks,
That's what I was hoping. Will be simple then to find and have installed, a more visible (for me) front sight, even if it is just a Red Ramp.
