(Please before whomping on my, bear in mind this is my first rifle, so I'm not familiar with a lot of items. I can take care of the rifle, but I'm by no means an expert.)
Not long ago, I put a 3-12x scope on my OR. So far, I'm enjoying it, but I can't seem to get comfortable when I'm sighting the target, and when I do find the sweet spot, it's tough to hold as my cheek isn't sitting "tight" on the stock.
I tried a "snap on" style comb, but it doesn't get to quite the right spot (I've got long arms and tend to put the stock all the way out, so the snap on unit was digging in as my cheek was *just* a bit too far forward.)
So, I'm not thinking about swapping out the stock for a Magpul PRS. Which (finally) brings me to my question. Magpul indicates that a "carbine with a collapsible stock will require a rifle-length receiver extension tube, rifle buffer and spring."
I'm presuming this would be a replacement for the buffer spring assembly in the current stock, but can I just swap it out for a buffer assembly as described?
So, for example (I went poking around Brownells') would I be able to get the PRS stock and an A2 AR15/M16 rifle buffer tube assembly (The Brownells' branded I'm looking at includes the tube, spring, etc,) probably a couple tools to make swapping it out easier, and be good to go?
I've not yet given up on figuring out if I can manage with the stock stock (yeah, I know, horrible phrasing), I just need to get out to the range more.
Thanks,
Jason
