Try pre-1980 issues of Guns & Ammo, Shooting Times, Guns, And American Rifleman. The tabloids today don't know revolvers exist it seems. Bob!

Handguns, American Handgunner, Combat Handguns AT TIMES remember us. I subscribe to all 3.

Yup, reading this forum is the best revolver learning you can get!

The only "gun rag" I get is Handloader. Actually contains interesting and useful information, occasionally revolvers are even mentioned.

American Handgunner is usually ok, as well as Shooting Times. Most magazines focus on tactical junk, 1911s, ARs, and hunting rifles though. I swear if you look at a row of gun rags, nearly every cover will have a 1911 or the latest "Tactical Roomclearing Powerhouse!" AR-15 on it.

Go to Barnes and Noble or Wal-Mart and look at all the magazines. Each has a different flavor, but all of the information contained in them can be found online for free.

Custom Combat Handguns had a good article last month on a Heirloom Precision 3" model 65.

Try Gun Digests "Book of the revolver" by Grant Cunningham. Good read. Regards 18DAI

Not magazines, but two books that are very informative and useful are:

The S&W Revolver: A Shop Manual by Jerry Kuhnhausen

and

The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson 3rd Edition by Supica & Nahas

"Sixguns" by Keith, Taffins book by the same name is also good. Keiths book is back in print, check Amazon.

Not magazines, but two books I really like are The Snubby Revolver by Ed Lovette and Gun Digest Book of the Revolver by Grant Cunningham.

Cunningham has a lot of good articles and blog posts on his website, GrantCunningham.com - Home.

I don't even own a copy of anybody's rag, or subscribe to one. You can find more-than-enough information on products and load-data out there on the net than you could ever ask for.

Every magazine for the last year has been nothing but 1911's. Maybe that will change in 2012. I'm not going to hold my breath.

Aside from my NRA subscription to American Rifleman, I currently get Combat Handguns. I agree that every month it seems the cover of CH has some 1911 on it. Don't get me wrong, the 1911 is a good firearm but come on already - maybe they should rename the rag to Combat 1911 Handguns. Every month readers are treated to some new and very expensive custom 1911 ..... not exactly what I would take into combat to begin with!

Ha, that's funny. My first handgun was a 1911, beautiful gun. Second gun was a S&W 686. I eventually wound-up buying two more "bottom feeders" and 6 more wheel guns, with two more coming!

Wheel Guns for the win! :)

PS: Most magazines are a total waste of money buying, but to sit in Barnes and Nobel reading them for free is ok. ;)

I don't subscribe to any gun rag, but I will browse the selection when I'm at the grocery store and buy one that has articles that appeal to me every few months or so.

I too look for sixgun articles.:)

I recently found a website with a bunch of Skeeter Skelton's old articles on it, sixguns galore in his writings.

An oldie but still a goodie, Ed McGivern's "Fast and Fancy Revolver Shooting" is still able to be found.

And I third (or whatever number I am now) Grant Cunningham's book or his website for the online articles he posts.

While NOT a magazine, "The Gun Digest Book Of The Revolver" by Grant Cunningham is an EXCELLENT treatise on the wheelgun........
