If short barreled, then K or L frame. And fixed rear sight. Tritium front sight like the J frame M&P. I'd be tickled with a night sighted 3" .41 or .44 Model 69 variant. But a 13 or 65 3" would be fine. I don't care a rat's behind about finish (unless it's nickel, which is right out) or stocks.

No porting. No lasers. No awkward light mounts. Just a good GP "carry gun" ought to do. With night sights. 'Cuz it gets dark. Note when this post was written, like 90% of my others...

If wishes were fishes, then either a night sighted 2" 940 or a return of the long barreled silhouette model .44 or even better, .41. But those ain't gonna happen, unless they do.

I'd be in for an N-frame round butt with 3" barrel and fixed sights...

...and no calibers ending in mm, ACP, or Colt, please...

What, you would not want a S&W revolver in the grand 9.8mm ACP chambering as developed by Colt around 1910???

My dollars are committed. I have done things like this before. I don't think you folks will ever agree on one gun or even one caliber. If I sit back and be patient, some day I may have a fancy new S&W.

Maybe some day it will be worth a zillion bucks.

I hope that most of those here that can afford it will get behind this project. I have my special calibers as many do, but I would take any reasonable caliber. Something unique might make it more desirable to some. A 5 shot 45ACP or something like a 327 mag would be interesting. But, hey who doesn't like 357s or 44s.

Maybe it could be made unique by simply having some garnish around the roll mark or an older style roll mark on a new gun. Someday in the distant future people might drool over them like some of those special order guns like the Bekearts.

For me a lot would depend upon price. Most groups buys I'm interested in if it's a cost savings, if it means paying retail or even more just for a special 4.75" barrel, ebony grips, and a gold platted ejector rod, I wouldn't be interested.

OP Here:
Over the next couple of days I will consult with a couple of form members in order to decide how to proceed with the next polls. My only concern at this point is that we need higher interest numbers to go forward.

Thanks HarrishMasher for all your efforts thus far! It would be great if this project happens!

I think a model a bunch of us could get behind is a 617 without the full underlug. 2500 w a 4 inch tube, 2500 w a 6 incher.

Not me. If it's rimfire, I'm out.

3" barrel no-lock, and all the other stuff won't matter much. Blue/stainless, K/L/N, .357/.44/.45, etc.

I would like a 3" barreled 327 magnum chambered some thing. No hole if that can be swung. Adjustable or fixed is fine. Bright stainless or pimp nickel finish. K frame size preferable but extra holes in a larger frame would work too. One can dream right?

I fixed it for ya! :D

Appreciate you doing all of this.

Uh, no...don't need another rimfire.

Well different strokes for different folks. I personally think S&Ws new bluing process is garbage, so I'd be out if the choice was blued. I was thinking that the no underlug 617 would be a model that Talo could easily sell if it didn't sell out thru the forum.

It's unlikely that anyone will get 100 percent of the features they want. Once again, HarrishMasher deserves a pat on the back for even taking the discussion this far.

I can not just help but laugh everyone saying no lock. The only frame you will be able to get no lock now days is just in j- frame, anything else will not happen period. Just had to put that out there.

So if there is any chance of this idea moving forward and everyone wants prelock we need to be looking at the j frame end of story. If not j frame it has to be with the IL. I hope we can figure this out since I would buy one.

If you read post #4 in this thread, you'll see that TALO believes a no-lock revolver other than J frame is a possibility.

I seen that but it will be j frame nothing else. Smith Wesson is not stupid, they know what the market wants and if they could do prelock k n l frame they would. This is also want a upper rep for Smith Wesson told me as well. Sorry but I tend to believe Smith Wesson over what Talo says.

Folks,
I appreciate your enthusiasm and love for the forum. ;)

We'll probably get around to hats and tee shirts one day.
I've been away lately and had not seen this till today.

However, I can tell you now that for MANY different and valid reasons, we will NOT be doing a forum commemorative firearm at this time.
The logistics alone make it an impossibility. It cannot be considered without purchasers pre-paying. I simply don't have the time, and I would not even consider letting the payments and shipping out of our control.
I've seen far smaller group buys fizzle and/or turn into logistical nightmares. Got the tee shirt.
This is not a debatable matter, so I won't be taking any time to discuss it.
At this time, the matter is CLOSED.
