Just had a friend who works at a gun shop send me a photo of this gun. RHPD marked on the backstrap. He thinks it is Royal Hong Cong Police.

Could this be the case, right time frame ect. If so were guns that went to this part of the world proof marked. If it was sold over there shouldn't it have an import mark when it was brought back.

I know it can be lettered but I don't own it.

I have one and it does stand for Royal Hong Kong Police. Don't know the story behind these, only reason I have one is because it's like new.

Here is a RHKP for sale locally in Virginia,,

It is posted with an asking price of $500,,,

The poster says it is a
" used Smith and Wesson model 10 revolver, Royal Hong Kong Police (RHKP)"

RHKP S&W Model 10-5

There seem to be some concern over the authenticity of the weapon shown, all RHKP revolvers other than Detective Specials had a lanyard toggle so if no toggle and no trace of the toggle drilling it is a fake. The RHKP stands for Royal Hong Kong Police (Force) not RHKD but RHKP and some Model 10s still exist in daily use though most Officers prefer the Glock automatics, G-17 and 19. All revolvers, Webley, Colt and S&W were blued
