I have a fellow that I have been dealing with that has a near mint safe queen 586 no dash. I offered him my Rock Island Armory Tactical 1911. I have hand polished it trying to get ready to blue it, but just haven't done it yet. I offered it to him saying it does need to be refinished and it can rust if not kept oiled. The rust that does appear is very faint and easily taken off. He said he would trade me for my 1911, 200 rounds and $150. Is that a good deal?

Just to see what you guys say. Haha. He wants 300 rounds and $120. Im waiting for the time to make it up to middle Arkansas and make the trade. A friend of mine ask what I was doing it for. I didnt think it needed an explanation. He himself has a LNIB M36 nickel snub original in box with wax paper, manual and ads. I am a jealous one and I have tried several times to get it from him. He says a $1000 1911 could get it from him. I have pondered selling my AR, buying a 1911 and trading it for that gun. Something tells me that he wouldn't go for that.

I would definitely do it !
You can always go buy a new RIA 1911 but cant go and buy a new 586 no dash

I don't care how "Tactical" you call an RIA......you're not going to turn a sows ear into a silk purse and this one you have is bare metal at that. Probably could not even get a $200 offer for it now and that's if it shoots. You can buy those all day long for well under $500 NIB at the gun show. They are all over the place. Make the trade.

It's a great deal for you. RIA's are not terrible guns, but they pretty much scrape the bottom of the 1911 barrel. Unfinished, with rust, however makes it pretty much worthless. You should take pity on the guy with the 586.

Haha. I told him that it would need to be refinished as I was in the process of anyways. I was polishing it to blue it. He wants to CeraKote it. I'm gonna do the trade. I was all honest with him, so it's his decision to make the trade.
