Rick Schroder explains bail for Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse: 'It made me mad'

Last week, Rick Schroder helped post bail for Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old accused of killing two protesters in Kenosha, Wis., in August. Now the actor is explaining why.

"This was Kyles life being destroyed," Schroder told the New York Post Wednesday. "This is his freedom at risk. It infuriated me to see an innocent 17-year-old young man being tried and found guilty before trial."

The "Silver Spoons" and "NYPD Blue" star put up "hundreds of thousands" of dollars toward Rittenhouse's $2-million bail and his defense because he was upset that the teen was being tried in the media.

I guess not everybody sees the videos the same way. Even assuming NG on murder, he's still going down for the "minor with a firearm not hunting" charge I believe applies in that state.

The prosecution is knowingly frivolous and the prosecutors should be disbarred. (And I am a prosecutor ...)

While he violated the "stupid" rules (Farnam's commentary on going to stupid places with stupid people and being involved in stupid things), he was the victim of what appears to have been a violent assault and unlawful attempt to disarm him.

I’ve heard the phrase “It’s better to be tried by twelve than carried by six.”. I prefer neither.

Cooler heads may have made better choices than those that led up to the shooting, but I know few who would have behaved differently when faced with being shot or beaten to death.

I think his buddy who bought the gun for him might be in for some legal trouble as well. He was not a relation, he acted as a straw buyer, Kyle was a minor, and the sale was made out of state from where the kid lived. I don't know what the applicable state laws are where all this went down, but even in Florida every bit of that would be considered sketchy.

If the sale and transfer of the weapon is ever adjudicated to be a criminal act, then Kyle might be in jeopardy for transporting an illegally obtained firearm across state lines - or worse.

The only things I can predict with total accuracy is that the trial will be closely watched and the results hotly debated.

The business owner has civil court exposure via respondeat superior (vicarious liability) as well if he/she asked for or approved amateur armed security.
