Ring hammer

Hello larry, there is no definitive cut off date that I can find. Somebody up on the 6th floor just decided to stop the hole in the hammer. So new hammers were dumped in the assembly bins, probably mixed in with the old hammers. Really is not a good indicator of age because of the ease of replacing a new hammer for an old hammer. I have 39-2s from the 1972 to 1978 with all different hammers. Well, I did not answer your question. Sorry. Mike

Thanks Mike. This particular pistol is supposedly from 1971. Just bought it off this Forum. it's not too bad, but I wanted it for a concealed carry. My other 2 M39-2's do not have ring hammers, and are both NB. One is even nickel. It's not important, just wanted to know. Thanks, Big Larry

Larry, a lot of changes occurred in the 1970 and 1971 period. I think the factory was cleaning out a lot of 39 parts and some 39-2s got those parts.
There is no rhyme or reason to a lot of what you find.
