I first heard of Billy Joe when I bought the Waylon Honky Heroes Album.
He had a way with words and phrases which seemed to transcend him.
Saw him twice in person, funny guy!
He could tell some tales.
'The Devil made me do it the first time,
The second time I done it on my own.'
RIP Billy Joe

Yet another country legend leaves us! Looks like ol' Willie is gonna outlast them all.

RIP Billy Joe - Just a Tramp on the Street. Now you can be reunited with Edy.

Just making an observation about clean living vs smoking weed and ingesting other mind altering substances affected the life spans of Willie and Keith Richards as well as the rest of their band mates  Not sayin that this works for ever'body but it seems to work well for the strong minded :D

Being a widower myself Billy Joe wrote one called WHEN I GET MY WINGS, sure tore my heart out. Hope you're there BJS!

And we just lost Jerry Jeff Walker, such a fine honkey tonk troubador...music just ain't the same these days, regardless of genre, just hard to image much of it 'lasting' like the music of these good old boys

Yep. And don't forget about Johnny Bush who just passed away a week or so ago. What was it 'The Possum' said.....'Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes?'

"I am very sorry about the incident. Hopefully things will work out that we become friends enough so that he gives me back my bullet."

Billy Joe Shaver's statement outside the Couthouse in 2010 after the court ruled that his 2007 shooting of a man outside a saloon was self-defense.
