Corpus Christi, Texas Chief of Police Floyd Simpson died last night following a motorcycle accident. A vehicle crossed the centerline, and the Chief laid his bike down. Investigations ongoing, no arrests at present.
Prayers for this real fine man, his family and all, who we'll have a hard time replacing.

Reportedly the young man driving the truck that crossed the line on hwy 361 (very narrow, 17 mile long straight strip with soft shoulders) wasn't intoxicated. Very sad accident. Chief Simpson moved down this way from the Dallas P.D.

I ws extrememly shocked to hear this last night. The Chief was also wearing safety gear.A few months ago--he was interviewed on channel six--and he gave an eerie prediction--that sadly came true in his case.He said something to the tune of--its only a matter of time before we have our next motorcycle fatality due to other careless drivers.

I didnt see this thread till now and posted.

Rest in Peace Chief--he sure was a good CCPD Chief. He is going to be hard to replace with another in his caliber.

I met the Chief at a "do" about a year ago. He presented as a very cheerful and pleasant man. I also listened to him on the radio almost every Tuesday, he was full of common sense. I know several CCPD cops and he was well respected on the force. His death is a great loss to Corpus and a greater loss to his family. All my sympathy goes out to the family. Chief Simpson was a great man, a great cop and experienced Harley rider and promoter.
RIP Chief
