Sally Ann Howes, the actress who played that character in Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang, passed 19 December. She pretty much returned to the stage after the film, despite its success. Seems like it was the last gasp of that style of movie.

CCBB was the first movie I saw in a theater. There were seven kids in my family and a budget for four. My beloved bachelor uncle Bob took us to see this and I still remember the awe I felt when the screen lit up in Technicolor and overloaded my 9 year old B&W brain.
