RM Letter with a twist.

Great letter, neat twist.

You may recall from your history books that there was still a significant amount of tension with Mexico in the 30's. Germany, during WWI had suggested to Mexico an alliance (the Zimmermann Telegram) in which Germany would help Mexico recover Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

Although Mexico rejected the proposal, there was still a concern about anti-US sentiment, much of which carried over some 20 years later. Germany....and former German citizens....were involved in Mexican politics, culture and history dating back into the 19th century. Suspicions still remained.

Of course, in early 1942 Mexico declared war on Germany, became an important source of US labor, and many Mexican immigrants, nationals and those of Mexican origin fought in every branch of the US service.

But it would be very interesting to know why this shipment was rejected!

Strumpet, How close is your serial number to mine.

58490 / 4569

Pretty dang close. I can't imagine there's any explanation other then mine is from that shipment Roy referenced.

By the way, if you ever sell yours please give me a stab at it, I would love to put it along side mine some day ;)

I have a lower reg number and serial number, but shipped 10 months later. Yours made it to the exporter, or did it?

Honestly, I always assumed it did. For some reason I have not yet asked the Historical Society about it. I probably should shouldn't I?

I bought it at a gunshow from a guy who was selling knives, but since this old revolver was hanging from a nail in the shed of a house he bought, he thought someone might want it, so he tossed it on his table full of knives right in front of me.

My guess your RM went to someone in the USA. Wouldn't hurt to dig a little deeper.
