I have posted information about this revolver previously.

http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-ha...880-canadian-military-issue-s-w-revolver.html

I would like to put a set of larger, vintage grips on this piece to allow for a better grip in my large hands -- but I'm confused by the round grip/square grip options. Will they both fit on this frame? If not, what should I be looking for. I would prefer wooden, checkered, and with a larger, squared off bottom.

There are also some nice, newer rubber grips out there -- same questions.

Finally, what were the grips that this old veteran likely had on it when it was shipped from the factory?

TIA,

Tom

Tom, that is a round butt frame. Someone should come along with information on the correct vintage stocks, and/or alternatives for large hands.

Your revolver has a round butt. Only round butt grips will fit. However,
I'm sure that over the years someone must have produced a square butt style grip that would fit a round butt frame. To give you an idea of what might be available, have a look at Ebay and search for "K frame grips".

I believe there are rubber grips likewise, check with Hogue and Pachmayr to see. Also look on eBay. For shooting (but not necessarily aesthetic) purposes, I much prefer rubber grips to wooden.
