Could anyone tell me who sells the Rossi model 92 now. Not much listed on GB. Buds show all rossi out of stock.

They are out there but extremely scarce. Not may are coming into the country currently. It took me over 2 years to put my hands on a new 20" 357 mag.

The unofficial word is Rossi is consolidating manufacturing plants in Brazil and it is limiting the amount of guns being produced. The last I heard it would be late 17, early 18 for shipments but that obviously hasn't happened. Even when they do start coming back you'll probably see price gouging due to demand

I've got one in .357/.38 Special and love it! It's one of the early ones without the Rossi "safety thingy" on top that is not true to the original design. I also have a '92 Browning in .44 mag/special - you may want to check with a Browning dealer to see if any of those are in stock. True to the original except for a gold trigger. I way prefer the .357s - the .44 mag recoil in a gun this light is brutal.

I heard the import pipeline dried up as well. It took me near 3 months before finding one in 357 this past fall. Stainless and Case Hardened versions are especially like the Holy grail. I settled on the 20" blued version and have been happy with it. That said, I have seen one or two pop up on GB since then but usually in 45 LC. My advice would be to set up a search on GB and be ready to pounce!

New ones seem to be hitting the pipeline. Kentucky Gun company had some new ones recently.

My local dealer says he hasn't been able to get one for six months or so. I bought the last one he had in .44 Magnum.....

Here's it's .357 brother, with Ruger Blackhawk revolver:

I've had the above .357 for eight years or so, it makes a great utility rifle, and a good choice for introducing new shooters to centerfire rifles.

Found some pics of the .44 Magnum from a recent outing:

I'm on another forum whose members are starting to see 92's appear in local channels. The 2018 catalog shows a much reduced selection of models compared to previous years.

I would like to add too that the new new ones appear to be coming in without the internal hammer lock that Taurus uses. My new one doesn't have it and others have reported the same thing. If you're looking at a Braztech Rossi 92 you can probably get an idea if is NOS or new based on whether it has a lock or not

I just got one and already have done a bunch of mods to it. It slicks up very easily. I found fit and finish to be lacking. Took out the sander and did the forend a proper fitting job and then hit it with boiled linseed oil.
The loading gate spring was too tight (easy adjustment) and the butt plate was too wide for the wood, leaving a little annoying lip. Fixed that too. Added a stainless mag follower, a lower front and rear sights, and took the noisy saddle ring off. Now it's awesome. Handy dandy little 16" carbine holds 9+1 .357 ammo. Hard to imagine a better lever action for quick and easy handling.

I just checked Summit Gun Broker. He is out of the .357, but lists the .44 Mag and the .45 long colt as being in stock.

The Miroku manufactured Winchester is generally available and pretty much the best of the bunch in my opinion. Miroku also made the Browning 92's, 86's, 71's, 53's, and 65's.

I cut the bottom and top off the safet, making a plug out of it andnpinned it back in place. Free, and totally disables the safety.

More pics

Cut the huge ears off the rear sight, installed a lower front, and used a triangular file to open the rear sight notch.

One time early on with my LSI Puma 44 the safety somehow engaged while I was firing. I thought the firing pin broke until I realized the hammer wasn't falling all the way. I jiggled the lever back and forth a few times and it's been fine ever since. I've probably shot it a thousand times since then and it's never happened again. I really have no idea what happened and I hadn't really thought about it until now.

A few years ago , I picked up a Rossi 92 16" in .357, it worked OK but needed smoothed up. A friend with a M92 in 45 said just shoot it and it will smooth up..
Not being one that will just let well enough alone..
I ordered a safety plug, magazine follower , & Rossi 92 video from Steve's Gunz. The video was a great help to smoothing up the 92 action, what needs to be done, what didn't , and a couple of tricky assembly problems. Well worth the price of the video.. I also refinished the wood & changed the sights.

A few months later a gentleman that I know purchased one in .357 with a 20" barrel. It was as smooth out of the box as the one I had, after I had smoothed it up.

So the quality / smoothness seemed to vary quite a bit from firearm to firearm ,, or at least 5 or 6 years ago with these two different rifles.

Also, with 38spl. it recoils like a .22 and with some of my 158 gr .357 reloads ,, I've choro at 1250 fps out of a 4" revolver and 1675 fps out of the 16" M92.

A fun little rifle , I would buy another in a heart beat for the right price.. Maybe a stainless .44 this time..
