I had a Baker pancake made for the model 19 shown in the
photo on the left below. I seldom used it, so I gave it away
as a karma gift a while back.

Then I read Holstory and realized what an important contribution
Roy Baker made to the holster world, so I started looking again.
I wanted an open top, but the only one I could find was one that
a previous owner had cut off the strap. I didn't want that.

Finally I found the one shown 2nd from left below which the
seller represented as being made for a J Frame. Actually it was
made for a Model 19 with up to 3" barrel. 3" barrel model 19s
are kinda rare, but it works for 2.5" model 19s as well. But I
don't have one, so the photo shows it with my model 10 2".

Well persistance pays off. I kept looking. I found this open top
basket stamped Roy Baker pancake from Magnolia, Ark. I know
it looks black in the photo, but in real life it is a rich dark brown.
very nice. Shown 3rd from left with my 642-1.

In my humble opinion they are some of the best holsters ever made. They can make a big gun disappear on your belt and make a heavy gun light.

A Baker pancake was the first holster I ever bought for my first four inch Model 19. When I started with the NC ALE Division I was issued a Baker pancake for my 2.5 inch Model 66-1. I have added a few over the years.

Nice finds...He made a great holster...

I have one in a brown basketweave for a 6" N that will hold any of my Ns and an unmarked black one that may or may not be original... Both have the thumbsnaps...

Simply Rugged holsters are a good substitute for the Baker's but I do like the belt-slot spacing on the Baker's a little more as one can wear it under the off side arm just like a shoulder holster...

I won a black plain 4" barrel for a K frame at a match several years ago and I got a new in the plastic bag for a 36 S&W or a charter arms under cover on ebay, the only trouble is its left handed. For my money Roy's and ******* are the finest holsters you can get. Jeff
