Was watching (and bid on) a 6690, one of those "transitional," made-for-a-dealer compact double stacks.

It sat for cheap until the last two hours, and then went for what I think was a bit of a bargain price of $415.00 (plus $45!!! for shipping) and in WA, tax, and FFL fee.

I've got too many Smith compacts that I actually carry and shoot and didn't want to pay the $540 - $575 it would have cost...for a collectible. Plus there's just not enough people anymore to ooohh and ahhhh over them.

Someone scored okay, hope it was someone here.

Another 6690

I won another 6690 on GB earlier this year. I paid not very much more and thought I was fortunate enough to get it at a crazy reasonable price. Congratulations on yours!
BTW, Campsite is a LGS that's around 25 miles away- a shop I hit up every once in a while. I'd have thought they were a bit more squared away on gun knowledge, considering how they described the magazine sticking out…LOL

The 6690 is a close relative to the 6691 that I purchased about 4 years ago.

Yes, I was the successful winner of that S&W 6690!

Congrats on that! I was surprised the price didn't run up before the last hour or so...I had hopes of it staying in the price range I was comfortable with. That $45 shipping plus WA state's 10% tax really runs the price up here in the Pacific Northwest. Glad it went to someone who can appreciate it.

And for demkofour -- when lived on Long Island I too used to drop in there every once in a while. And I used to shoot big bore at the sand pit range in Riverhead, it was about 2 minutes from the house.
