Ruger 10/22 mags

Is there an easy way to load them? I bought a Lasermax model this week, and the shop had some extra Ruger factory 10 round magazines we took in a trade. I always like to have extras, so I bought three of them. I have arthritic hands, and I just discovered that it just ain't an easy mag to load if your thumb is aching with every push. There is a tool that helps in loading the 22 Ruger semi auto pistols. I sat here and loaded the three 10 rounders, and wondered if there is some trick. Makes me appreciate the tube mags on my Marlin .22s.

Red, those should be very easy to load, have you thought about lifting weights?

You can get a plastic thing that slides over the mag and catches the thumb tab to hold it down.

Which are they? Are they Ruger 10/22 RIFLE magazines? Or are they Ruger semi-auto PISTOL magazines? You mention both. Two different animals. (Unless you're talking about a Ruger Charger.)

I never hand any trouble with a 10/22 rifle magazine, but I have with the pistol mags. So I'll give you easy fix for the pistol mag. Use a box end wrench slipped over the magazine button, and pull down on the wrench. Works like a champ for me. I think I use a 3/8", 7/16...something like that. A socket would probably do too.

Somebody else might have an idea about the rifle mags.

Arthritis makes loading both the 10/22 rifle and MK I, II and III magazines a "challenge". ADCO makes a loader for both, I have one for pistol and it is handy. Wasn't aware, until now, of the rifle loader. Going to get one for the 10/22, us older shooters need all the help we can. My daughter used to be my loader, then she wanted to shoot, discovered shooting was a whole lot more fun than loading magazines.

I have the tool to help load the pistol magazines.
Like gwpercle, I'm glad to learn there is something
similar available for the rifle mags. I wonder if it
works with the 25 round Ruger mags?

Ramline used to make one. I think I have one in a box somewhere....
