Instead of having the barrel cut on my Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk (1974 model), I traded (plus a little cash) Ruger for another Ruger with a Bisley grip.

I got the Lipsey 3.75" stainless 44 mag Super Blackhawk with a Bisley Grip.

Not sure when I will shoot it as I need to reload for it, but I have 3X hands and I can feel my finger up against the back of the trigger guard.

Those with large hands and Bisley….

do you find any pain from the trigger guard to your finger like it would from the standard super blackhawk?

I was going to find some rubber grips but I cannot find any for the Bisley which has me wondering if this grip shape does not need the rubber.

here is my piece
Ruger® New Model Super Blackhawk® Single-Action Revolver Model 0818

need to find a gun bucket for it too (simple holster)

Nice looking gun. I have a few Ruger SAs and one of them has the
Bisley grip. I have small hands so I tend to have a high grip on all
revolvers. My Bisley 44 magnum is probably going to be fed mostly
mid range handloads because the low hammer spur gouges my thumb
with full power loads. I think part of the appeal of the Bisley style
grip is the distinctive look and hiding the grip under rubber grips
would seem to defeat the purpose. Just my opinion but maybe that's
why they aren't offered.

I suppose I have a large hand. I wear an XL glove.

Have a pair of Bisleys, both 5 1/2" Blackhawk, 45 Colt. Never had any problem with recoil pounding me.

I have a Bisley .45 Colt and large hands. I used a layer of an adhesive material called Agrip from Brownells. It increased the diameter enough to change how the trigger guard related to my index finger. I have found several other grip applications for this material.

many….where are you applying the Agrip?

completely around the grip or just where your finger would ride against the trigger guard?

thanks for the replies!
