I've started carrying a Ruger EC9s as my in-town EDC. I bought it, apparently unfired with one magazine and no box or paperwork, at a pawn shop across the street from a casino. I've picked up two more magazines, a 7 round and a 9 round, a DeSantis holster, and a Hogue Handall. I also painted the front sight with glow-in-the-dark paint.

The little 9mm is accurate enough for social work and with the Hogue Handall it is controllable. It has replaced my S&W Model 469 except for traveling, which my wife and I do often for her medical appointments.

I bought one last December. I decided to replace my Colt Agent .38 special with a pocket 9. It is quite accurate for such a little gun. I shot mine today and it did fine out to 15 yards. I did a nice 3" group at 7 yards, shooting fast. This was with Federal hardball. Not too back for an old guy with bad eyes and a locked up right shoulder. It would be nice if I could actually get the gun up in a decent Isosceles or Weaver stance. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it. :D

It is more accurate with Federal Premium 135 grain Hydra Shok JHPs, but they are a little pricy for paper punching. I carry mine in an Allen pocket holster.

Ruger EC9-s.

I too have the same gun. I like the size but found the accuracy lacking on mine. Its a safe queen now. I have been carrying a Sig 365 for my EDC gun. Holds more ammo, is more accurate and is a better feeling gun in, my opinion.

What do you consider "lacking in accuracy" and with what ammo?

I have an LC9s which is similar and even after fitting a Hogue I find it recoils far more than a CW9 or a PPS M2. The grip is narrow and digs into my bony hands despite the Hogue. Slow fire accuracy standing unsupported was adequate for social work, say 3" groups at 10 yards.

From spring to fall its my right hand IWB edc. During the winter its a 3913 in a Galco Miami left hand draw shoulder holster.

I dumped both of my Shield 9's and my LC9s Pro (it was disappointingly buggy). My only remaining 9mm plastic pocket carry is my early LC9s non-pro. While it is not my favorite gun to shoot, the size and weight work out well for discrete pocket carry when I feel I need a 9mm vs. a .380. I would recommend the current EC9s to anyone. It's a bargain compared to the P365 if you don't feel you need the P365's extra capacity.

I am absolutely appalled by the comments here! Folks liking the EC9s ... on S&W Forum!! OK, in all seriousness - I really like mine. I put a CT laser on it and think the world of it. The one thing I did do was call Ruger CS and complain about the (relatively) cheap US-made magazine. They swapped it for a MecGar (I assume - made in Italy anyway) mag and all I had to do was mail the other one back to them. I think the EC9s (and, the LC9s) are real sleepers - more rounded than the G43 and I love the fact that they have a safety.

I had the G42, couldn't wait to get rid of it only because of the lack of safety also. I did keep it, though, until Ruger sold me the EC9s...probably 1/2 the price of the Glock, and a very easy safety. I bought the EC9s and the Security 9 together, and with a few extra mags. My pocket-carry gets shot every time I go shooting, at least one mag. Never had a failure to do anything with either gun. I would recommend the EC9s to anybody looking for a CCW. Inexpensive, not cheap! I used white nail polish on the front sight. (Yinz know, of course, I own nail polish for gun reasons, right? Also, it comes right off with acetone when I need a change.) For semi-serious shooting, the finger extension on the little 9mm is a must for me. The big brother Security9 is a very comfortable gun to shoot, but won't win any accuracy trophies in my hands! OP picked a pretty nice pistol IMO. Mine goes with me everywhere but work. (Pgh Public School District...they don't allow!)

My brother owns a Ruger LC9s (which is basically just the EC9s with a nicer finish and dovetailed sights) and it's a really sweet shooter. The trigger is very light with a short yet audible reset, the safety is very positive, and the action is nice and smooth.

As a low cost, concealed carry pistol, it's hard to beat.

I've had a Ruger LC9s for a couple of years now, it does make a comfortable to carry, and shoot, pocket pistol. I'd feel uneasy carrying one without a safety.

LC9s non pro here. I like the thumb safety which the pro doesn't have. I have always thought the trigger center lever as the only safety copied from Glock was a poor safety. To each their own opinions. The EC9s and the LC9s have the magazine disconnect which some people don't like. It doesn't bother me. The finish and sights are basically the only difference between the EC9S and the LC9s. Well that and the LC9s is a bit higher price. I got my LC9s otd for $312. I am seeing EC9s new for around $220 otd.
My LC9S is one of only two guns I use in rotation for CC.
I haven't even held let alone shot a Shield to compare.

Nice guns for sure but I really do not see how you guys can call these pocket pistols. To me a pocket pistol is the size of , say the M&P380. I own a shield in .45 and although small, it is HUGE when it comes to stuffing into a pants pocket. I like the Rugers but pocket pistols they ain't. Pocket means my 337, 638 or M&P380.
Sorry

I don't pocket carry anymore. When I did, it was in my uniform pants cargo pocket.

Pricewise, the EC9s cost me $175.00 with a box of Blazer Brass 9mm to boot. The 2nd 7 round magazine was $21.00 on line. The 9 round magazine was $32.00 on line. The DeSantis Thumb Break Scabbard was $20.00. Total = $250.00 plus tax and some shipping. I'm happy.

UPDATE: Picked up another 9 round magazine from a LGS for $31.00. At Academy they were $39.99. Go figure.

I did the same. The US made mag was crud. It failed 11 times in the first 100 rounds. They sent me a new mag and I mailed the old one back. I sold the gun thereafter. I want something that runs right out of the box for CCW. I broke even, luckily. The trigger was great on my EC9S though, I will say.

I carry a 1.0 Shield9 now with +2 magguts and Hyve trigger. Way better gun for a few bucks more.

I probably should have pointed out the the problems with my buggy LC9s Pro were also 90% magazine-related. I also sent the original magazine back to Ruger and they replaced it... however, I can't remember if the replacement was Made in USA or imported. Regardless, while the second magazine certainly improved the gun, it was never up to the reliability and performance of my original LC9s (non-Pro)... so I dumped the Pro, kept the original and all is right with the world today. :)

I have the first gen LC9. The hammer-fired one with no trigger-blade and the l-o-n-g revolver-like trigger pull.
It has been my EDC for around two years now.
I like it a lot. Snappy but quite manageable. Accurate enough and slim enough and small enough that I can fit it into most of my pants pockets in a Galco pocket holster. Fairly lightweight. I like everything about it but for ONE thing.
The dang black nitride (or whatever it is) finish is NOT durable at all. Lots of bare metal showing on the slide. I've given up trying to touch it up with cold blue and now just try to keep a thin coat of wax on it to stop rust.

I bought the EC9s and the LCP new this year for $200 each. They are reliable and shoot to POA. The LCP is a true pocket pistol and even comes with a pocket holster.
