I have a Ruger LCR (hammerless) with a 2” barrel, and it is a very good, reliable gun. Ugly, but good. I call it my Planet of the Apes Gun.
However, I would like to have another one like it with a hammer. Ruger makes a short barreled LCR-X (with hammer) in .22 Magnum, but not in .22 LR.
It would be the easiest thing to make a .22 LR just like the Magnum. Why wouldn’t they make that an option?
Would it be possible to buy one in the Magnum, send it to The Mother Ship, and have them swap out the magnum cylinder for one in .22 LR ?

Just get the magnum.

With Hornady Critical Defense 45 grain you actually get decent performance out of the 2”. Same for the Speer Gold Dot.

Only thing I don’t understand about the .22 mag LCRs is they’re only 6 shooters while the .22LR is an 8 shooter. Seems they could have made it a 7 shooter with ease.

I really like my 5 shooter hammerless .38 LCR. Don’t tell anyone here, but it’s a better pocket gun than any J-frame I’ve owned.

My fiance has an LCR .38 snub with the Crimson Trace grip that doesn't work. I have not sent the grip to Crimson Trace because the gun is so ugly I forget about it. It has a good feel and decent trigger but she has a very old Rossi square butt .38 snub that actually has nice bluing and walnut grips and I find myself giving it more love than the LCR. Anyway she's comfortable shooting the LCR and it will probably last forever and she has confidence in it but she LOVES shooting my M&P 4" 10mm.

Chances are slim to none that Ruger would modify a gun for you.

Since 22 Mag is about the price of 38 Special ( at least around here ) ….. maybe another 38 is in order.
