At the rifle range at slow fire off a rest.........

when I lift the bolt and slowly draw the brass back, as the brass turns to the right and touches the inside of the chamber.........

some times the case drops from the bolt, and has to be removed by hand.

Fast bolt motion works 99% of the time for the case to eject out of the rifle.

Can my extractor bar be wore out or damaged ?
What is causing this problem?
When removed from the rifle a case fits ok on the face.

Is the ejector a sprung device or does it operate when engaging something when you pull the bolt back? Perhaps the ejector spring is tired or the ejector is not moving freely.

Has this rifle only just started this behaviour? What you describe is not unusual on many bolt guns in my experience. They only eject well when you work the bolt with a bit of vigor.

I would guess that drawing the bolt back slowly lets the plunger type
ejector just push the case out of the grip of the extractor rather than
fling it out all at once when the bolt rapidly pulls the case clear of the
chamber. This is probably common and may vary somewhat with the
caliber (case shape). The ejector plunger may be dirty enough to be
a bit sluggish in movement and need cleaning. Check to be sure the
ejector spring isn't broken.

You were both right...........

I had a talk with one of the gun guys here in Reno and he stated that was the nature of this bolt type in the Ruger and

that it needed to be pulled back with more speed to work correctly !

He said that guys at the range just need to block the brass from rolling off the table in some way or just pick it off the deck.
