Curious if anyone here has tried the Ruger Security 9. Several of the Gun Rags give it good reviews but I don’t remember a Gun Magazine giving bad reviews to any new gun lately. At $300 I was thinking it might make a good high capacity truck gun. Ruger has always been known for tough reliable firearms

I have one. So far, I have fired only about 350 rounds thru it. A mixture of factory 115 gr. 124 gr home loads and Hornady Critical Defense. Has been 100% reliable. Accuracy is OK, but not great. Best I have been able to shoot was about 2.5" offhand at 10 yards. Plenty good for "minute of bad guy". Street price around here is right around that $300.00 mark. I consider that a true bargain.

Is it another copy of a Kel Tec or did they copy something else?

I think it actually is a scaled up version of the LCP, which is a copy of the Keltec P3AT.

That said, I like the Keltec design and llike the idea of a scaled up version. I wish Ruger would copy/improve the Keltec P11, which is the smallest double stack 9mm I have ever seen, to include the SIG P365.

It is actually a firearm designed to mimic the size of a Glock 19 but at a more cost effective price point using the LCP II trigger design, which is very different from the LCP.

The Security 9 will compete with the Smith & Wesson SD9VE, Canik TP9, and Walther Creed. And by compete I am saying dominate that specific market.

I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but it could easily sell for $350-$400 very well.
