Ruger SR 1911.....

My son-in-law recently picked one up and I was able to shoot it. Nice looking and shooting 1911. It is more the traditional set up with short guide rod and internal extractor if that matters to you, it does to some (not to me). It is what you would expect from Ruger by way of a less expensive gun that is still a quality build. I did not inspect the internals but it shot very much like my Smith 1911's. If you are in the market for a 1911 it should be considered...if you can find one! Most sell for around $700.

I have had one for a couple of months and posted about it if you want to go look. It was very tight and I really needed to lubricate the heck out of it the first couple of times I shot it. In addition, Ruger uses a very strong recoil spring. Since then it has been fine. Seems well built. I am still breaking it in and will not shoot lead until I get approx 500 rounds of ball through it. I am hoping to shoot it some more this afternoon.

I'd like to own one. At the Dallas Gun Show last weekend I finally saw a couple of them. Seems like the price has gone up. $799 was the going rate. At that price I will probably stick with the 1911's I already have.
