Ruger SR 762

My nephew bought a new SR 762 before he went overseas for three years. He fired 20 rds through it then left it with me. Never been out of safe. Now he wants to sell it. He is asking $1700 for it. I have no interest in it but told him I would ask around. I know that they are not made anymore but I have no idea what it is worth. Is $1700 even in the ball park? People here know a lot of stuff so I thought I would ask.

I just took a look at those sold on Gunbroker. Most appear to have sold between $1100 and $1300.

$1700 would be almost full MSRP for when it was new.

A quick check on GB shows two “new” rifles that sold for $1600. That’s the high end. Used rifles in excellent condition have recently sold between $955 and about $1400. One with a Leopold VX-R 4-12x40 Firedot Scope went for $1250 and included a Pelican case and extra mags.

I thought he was way high 0n his price. Several years ago I bought one for $1450 new. Buds last in stock price was around $1750. I found that there were easier ways to shoot 762 and sold mine.

$1k should move it pretty quickly. I didn’t realize that Ruger had stopped making these.
