I've been looking Ruger Vaqueros with the birdshead grip on the web.I like the 3.5-3.75 in.(what are the barrel lengths?) barrel in .357 or .45lc.All I've seen are stainless. Were they made with the blue finish? They are some nice looking revolvers. If anyone has one, post a picture and tell about it. Thanks.

I've had a New Vaquero Birdshead .45 ACP for a year now. I like it a good deal and have posted about it quite a bit over at both Ruger Forums. :) I have also posted about it here - search on my user name and the word "Vaquero" and you'll find threads.

I have had mine just over a year .45ACP. It quickly became my favorite. I had to do some filing on the sights to get it shooting to POA. Had a holster made by Lobogunleather.com. You won't be disappointed.

So is Ruger offering them? Or is it only thru special orders at gunsmith type companies?

Not sure precisely what you're asking, Pete. Mine was from the distributor TALO - Ruger made runs of these for distributors (they're not at all difficult to find - they frequently appear on Gunbroker), but I do not believe they are cataloged by Ruger as standard items.

PDL Ruger is not offering the Birdshead Talo and Lipseys are the only ones handleing these revolvers they do ship them to other dealers Like Gander Mountain ETC.

I bought mine at Gander a couple of months ago they had two of them in one in 45LC and one in 45 ACP I understand that only 800 of these were produced 300 in 45 acp and 500 in 45 LC
They are beautilul revolvers and really the pictures dont do them justice

I have a Ruger Vaquero Birdshead grip just like OneBilly43 has, except the frame is a mottled case-hardened type finish. The barrel, and cylinder are blued. It is very attractive. I have had it for about 15 years at least. I don't know how long they made them like that, but I have seen several.
