Russian 44 from a S&W 44?

Out looking for ammo today and came across something called Russan 44. I asked the dealer if this could be fired from a S&W 44 mag. He kind of shrugged and said, "Yeah, I think so".

I don't think he really cared about my question, I think he was more interested in the guy buying the browning shotgun off of him.

So I thought I'd go to those who know. A box of 50 was about $7 cheaper than 44 mag. Anyone know the answer to this question?

The answer is yes. .44 Russian is the ltimate parent of the .44 Magnum, it's Grandfather if you will.
