Was channel surfing last night and came upon this.

This being the edited NG version I wonder what it is really like? Brutal comes to mind!

You really do not want to getting arrested in Russia and go to one of these.

Do not know how I really feel about this, of course the inmates interviewed had "no complaints", which is par for the course.

There is a online video of the whole thing.(Google)

Inside: Russia's Toughest Prisons - National Geographic Channel - Asia

I've seen other documentary (in russian) about this prison. All the inmates there got capital punishment but at some point Russia signed a treaty something like putting all death sentences on hold. So technically they all are awaiting their sentence to be executed. Serial killers, cannibals, they will never leave that prison and they know it.

The narrator made a statement that Russia has a higher murder rate than anywhere else. Now I do not know if that is per capita. square miles, or what ever statistic.

Now that's a coincidence. I was surfing Netflix last night and ended up watching the same thing. Those massive dogs would make me want to stay in my cell if I were a prisoner there.

Didnt watch the vid yet but by the description of the dogs its gotta be a Kavkaskaya Ovcharka (Caucasian Shepherd) they are big and powerful. Somewhat related to the St. Bernard and cousins to the Tibetan Mastiff. They are native to eastern Europe Central Asia Afghanistan and Tibet.

Those dogs arnt ment for house pets although its possible with the right owner. They only recognize one alpha and must be trained from birth the difference between threat and none threat. Otherwise everything is a threat. They have high tolerance for pain and youre not going to stop one unless its a 45acp to the head. They have been know to jump out of second story windows when they see a mailman or anyone approach the house.

In Russia they are also used as bear protection. And their slang name translates to Wolf stompers

Saw it a few months ago. Don't think they have the behavioral problems we see in US prisons. Then again , don't think Russia has their own version of the ACLU!

Maybe we should send some of our repeat offenders to them.

Me too.

If you want to see a Caucasian go off search, "rare footage caucasian" and see what they can do to a large wolf.

Not for the timid. But notice they are OK in the village?

Also, they are an ancient breed of DOG.

I've already seen "Midnight Express" ... I don't need to see documentary footage of the Russian Gulag to know what Hades is like.
