"S" serial number Model 28

I've always wanted a 3.5" model 27, but they have gotten so dad gummed expensive, I glommed this 4" model 28 instead.

Because of California's crazy handgun laws, pre-lock revolvers must be C&R or an in-state private party purchase to be available in Cali. This one is a C&R.

The finish looks decent, grips seem solid and it should be a good shooter.

You did great! We all have these and you won't be disappointed. Load you some 110 grain JHP with massive doses of 2400 and listen to it crack like a rifle. I have some 200 grain Cast Performance gas checks loaded and chronied at 1,255 fps out of a gun identical to yours. Wonderful!!!!!

The secret is out. Expect these to rise in cost faster than most vintage S&Ws in the coming years.

I did the 27/28 thing myself. Got tired of looking. Ended up with a S serial#, 6" from 1960. Just added diamond targets to it that I've had for years. My Dad bought them new in the 60's. Enjoy your 28! Bob

That is a fine lookin' 28-2. I had one but sold it several months ago to a forum member. Now, as with so many other guns, I regret selling the thing and am looking for another one at a reasonable price.

Thing is, though, any "reasonable prices" have already skyrocketed around here.

The one shown below from 1960 just sold on GB for $992.89. No box or papers. With shipping and transfer fee, might as well say the buyer paid over $1K for it.

Nice revolver. I got lucky and found a 3.5 inch 27-2 for $600 about 1 1/2 years ago. This year found another 27-2 but a 6 inch for $750. Love both. Next search for a 6 inch Model 28, you'll enjoy it too.
