Simple questions, complicated way of explaining them.
I have a S&W 1911 that I especially love. It came from the Prerformace Center SKU 170261. I have a couple other factory production models as well. Yet the issue is with this gun.
A good friend and a surgeon by profession shoots IDPA as does all his family. He wanted to check out my gun and likes everything about it EXCEPT the spring. He says it is way too stout and the stoutest one he has ever seen. Cleaning the gun was a chore for him due to the heavy spring.
I have ran thousands of rounds through the gun without issue but have also noticed the stronger spring.
The dr asked me why the spring is so strong, what benefit does it serve by being so and why I have not dropped it down to a lighter spring. He also wants to know just what weight the spring is.
I cannot answer a single one of his questions. It should be added that he still has the gun after five weeks and I am carrying one of my others.
Any ideas? The gun has a custom trigger & hammer as well as a few other options. Not sure about that spring being standard.
