While there might be methods that others have had success with it has been my experience to live with the small signs of wear. Most times I have tried to "fix" something I usually made it worse!
A gun that gets shot almost always shows its use at some point and mine wear their scars proudly!

I figured I'd try a product. NOXON 7 Metal Polish. Applied with a q-tip and rubbed and rubbed and rubbed. Buffed and buffed and buffed, you get the idea, with a cotton cloth. Worked! Polish the rest of the gun and it works great. The "small" scratch was an idiot scratch putting the slide stop pin back in.
