S&W 22-4 vs other N Frames

I recently purchased a decelerator pachmayr grip from Lyman. The grip screw sticks out a great deal and only engages a few threads as the screw is not fully threaded. My question is the 22-4 frame thinner than other N frames. This is a sqr butt frame. Lyman unfortunately does not have good customer service so I turn to the forum.

My 22-4 grip frame seems to be the same as my older N frame revolvers. I replaced the factory stocks that came on it with a set of magnas off a model 28-2 and they fit just fine.
