Welcome01 to the forums from the Wiregrass! S&W made 4 versions of the Single Shot Target. So, you will have to provide pictures or give a more complete description of the gun for anyone to help you. Also, pictures are necessary to gauge condition. But, FYI, only 862 guns were made in .22 LR. If your gun has a recoil shield, it is the first model. S&W started the SN over on the second model, so we need to see the gun to tell. Your gun would be either a 1st or 2nd model target unless it looks like a semi-auto pistol and the barrel/chamber rotates sideways to the frame. Also, barrel length is important as some lengths are more valuable than others.

Well all 4 models were available in 22lr and there were many more made than 862 in 22LR, since it was the most popular caliber for the single shots across the board. There were 862 first model 22 single shots made, if that is what you meant. The straight line possibility is out since there were only 1870 fourth model aka straight lines made, all with 10 in barrels (I suppose there could be a few special order barrel lengths) and the SN is out of range for those, 1 - 1870. In addition, the SN is out of range for a 3rd model, 4618 - 11641. So that leaves only 2 possibilities, a 1st or 2nd model single shot. In addition, 8 in barrels were available on first and second models, so it must be one of those.

2nd Model Single Shot

jayh,

Look at the numbers on the barrel and bottom of the latch to see if they match the frame. I am asking since the serial number is above the ones I have listed where the two line address started. No "Modelof91" stamped on the top. The two line address on the barrel would commonly be on the 10 inch barrels but maybe not the 8 inch.
Here is where it is located. On the bottom of the latch and inside the right lug on the barrel. This picture is one with a cylinder but the barrel number is in the same position as this one.

3659 2nd Model SS 8 in .22 cal.

My guess would be in a range of 650.00 to 850.00 depending on how the finish looks on the other side.

2nd Model #3643 was shipped to H.B. Wilson on Feb 01 1910.

Thanks for the help..brought it down to local gun store..they said its 60% and value was $1200-1300

You are welcome!! The first models may go for 1200.00 in 60% but I don't think the second model will fetch that amount.
Lets us know what she brings!
