I have a model 25-5 in the 45 Colt caliber. I would like to shoot 45 ACP out of it. I know I can send the cylinder off to be cut for moon clips but really don't want to go that route. Will a 625 cylinder work or is it to short when installed?

Thanks in advance to all you experts.

Too short for a direct swap I believe. I had the same quandary, and ended up purchasing a new .45 Colt cylinder (Midway) and fitting it to the revolver. After fitting, I sent the cylinder to Mark Hartshorn at Pinnacle High Performance to have it cut for moon clips. Another possible option if you don't necessarily want to alter the original cylinder.

Works great, and all I have to do is swap the cylinder/yoke combination. (I had an extra compatible yoke that I am using with the new cylinder)
The original cylinder and yoke remain in tact and unaltered.
