Anyone own one? I picked up one at the LGS that was a police trade-in. I'm going to make this a project gun, getting rid of the folding stock, adding a speedfeed stock and sights.

Got my 2 shot extension tube and stock bolt adaptor back from LGS. Unfortunately the speedfeed forend will not fit the 3000, so I have to stick with the old one. I had to do a little grinding on the speedfeed stock to get it to fit to the receiver, but as you can see it fits nicely. Next is to add a ghost ring sight and to get it duracoated, probably a dark grey

I put a little laquer stik on it:

Welcome to the forum. The plastic shield on the stock is often missing. Barrels with rifle sights were an option and can be found. Many different styles of stocks are available.

I'm looking at putting a set of scattergun technologies sight on it, and then I'm going to get it duracoated, and as I mentioned getting a speedfeed stock put on.

JeepinCO your M3000 18" looks to be in VG original condition with parkerized finish. As for the SpeedFeed stock you will have to hunt high and low to find one these days, about the only way to get one is purchase another M3000 that already has a SF stock. I'm still trying to find an elusive set of M3000 plain dark oiled walnut stock/forend that came on the police models without buying another M3000.

The Speedfeed for the 870 will fit with a little alteration. I tried an old stock I had laying around and it's easy to make it fit. I hope to have it installed in the next week or so, then I'll post picks.

Model 1000 was available as a semi-auto (sometimes known as the 1000m) which was by far the most common version, AND as a pump gun, aka the Model 1000P.

You don't see too many of the latter on the secondary market, trust me.

I just picked up a 1000p with 4 different barrels, a case, cleaning kit, and 200 rounds for $300. The gun and barrels are in excellent shape, it seems like a solid shotgun!

a lot of the Semi-Autos are marked 1000a as well

JeepinCO I was also considering a 870 FeedSpeed stock for the S&W 3000. I can see that with minor modification that the SpeeddFeed stock will attach to the S&W 3000. The rub may be in the 870 stock bolt, if the 870 bolt lines up and is adequate in length the S&W Howa 3000 is metric, will the 870 stock bolt thread work?

Sorry I didn't see your post sooner. I did get the speedfeed to fit my 3000. Frank from LGS had to make me a bolt adaptor that threaded on the end of a regular stock bolt so that it could screw into the back of the receiver. I hope to have a pic of the gun on here tomorrow or the day after.

In 1981 S&W renamed the 1000P the Model 3000 to avoid confusion with the Model 1000 autoloader.

The Model 1000 autoloaders had several different markings on the left side of the receiver denoting the sub-model.
These included:
1000...2 3/4" aluminum alloy receiver field gun
1000...2 3/4" steel receiver slug gun
1000S...2 3/4" steel receiver Skeet and Super Skeet guns
1000T...2 3/4" steel receiver Trap gun
1000M...3" Magnum steel receiver field gun
1000Super12...2 3/4" and 3" Magnum steel receiver
There were also the "Waterfowler" parkerized versions of the 12 gauge 1000M and 1000Super12 autoloaders and Model 3000 pump.

JeepinCo the speedfeed stock came out nice and fits perfect, the S&W 3000 SpeedFeed stocks never seem to show up anywhere and as you did the only option is one from a Remington 870. The adapter for the 870 bolt was an excellent solution. Just a note to other or future owners of the S&W 3000 folding stock, there are two models, one has the plastic cheek rest and the other is a slightly different design and a plastic cheek rest didn't come with the stock and the other one won't fit on it.
