Welcome to the Forum. You have a 32 Safety, 1st Model that shipped around 1890. The cut off for antique status as defined by the BATF is serial # below 91,400.

Your gun appears to be refinished as evidenced by the flattened hammer stud on the right side and dished holes around various pins in the frame. Good job and does not affect the revolvers performance. Value for this model is very low, so refinishes do not affect them much.

The example I show below was purchased for $110 about 4 years ago with holster and shows what the hammer stud and pin holes should look like.

Smith and Wesson

Hello we found this gun in our attic under some insulation we are trying to determine age can you help it is lemon squeezer 32 cal serial # is either I or L 33982 or I or L 35982 also has a star after serial #. Thank you for any info.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! The SN is probably 133982. That would make it a 2nd Model from around 1905. The star after the serial number means it has gone back to S&W for work. Remove the stocks and see if there is a repair date in the MM.YY format on the left side toe of the grip frame. Also, we would like to see some pictures of the gun. Please post them and we may be able to tell you more.

Catalog photo

Here is a shot from an 1895 Montgomery Wards catalog. Bet you wish you could find one this cheap!
