I have a S&W Highway Patrolman Special Model 28 and would like to find the age and value of it. It is in excellent condition and never been fired. It is a 4". SN S202213. Thanks..this is my first post.

Welcome to the forum. We would love to see a photo or two of your HP.:D This one (SN S203544) shipped in December 1960 (whereupon it was carried and shot...a lot):

... so sometime in 1960 is when I would expect yours to have shipped, but S&W did not ship guns in SN order, although most of the time they are fairly close to that order.

Welcome from Northern IL.

The 28 HP is a great revolver. The first .357 that fit in the average guy's budget. We would love to see pictures.

Welcome to the S&W Forums! Never heard of a Highway Patrolman Special. The Model 28 Highway Patrolman was basically a S&W Model 27, but without the nice finish and checkered top strap of the Model 27. Value definitely depends upon finish and the inclusion of original box, documents, and tools. An all-complete set and NIB, only factory test fired, in today's inflationary market, I'd say $1200-$1400 would be a good price, you might get more on the online auction sites or from a collector who really wants one.
