Lanyard rings are around, not too hard to find. The ring inserts in the hole in the bottom of the frame. Under the stock is a cross-drilled hole that takes a pin that secures the ring and allows it to swivel. I have a spare ring. If you're interested, PM me.

Remove grips. Insert lanyard ring in big hole in the bottom of the grip frame. Insert keeper pin in small hole in the side of the bottom of the grip frame. Reinstall grips. If you find one with the hole in it , it's that simple.
I picked up a project one last weekend that had been nickeled and had to drill out the bronze/brass plug in the grip frame hole. Picked up another one last weekend that seems to be a non-military one. No proofs etc and the hole was welded and smoothed before the s/n was stamped (will not know for sure what the deal was on that one until I get it lettered).
Hope this helps,
Larry

I think police departments ended up with a lot of these. I bought about 30 from a dealer in Canada that bought out all the Smith & Wesson parts from a police armory or gunsmith. Almost all that I got were new. It appeared they just removed them all at one time and kept them in a box. This may explain why so many are bare now. I've used about 5 of them in ring-less Victories I have bought. I just need to buy 25 more!!!!
