S&W .38 Special Revolver

Hi Rick:

Welcome to the Forum. I'm a Viet Nam era veteran, but entered after the end of the war. I worked and took care of a lot of Viet Nam combat veterans and some were chopper pilots. One was a Cobra gunship pilot, but was seconded to an "alphabet group" to fly BDAs (Bomb Damage Assessments). He wasn't allowed to wear US markings on his uniform, and his chopper was also "sterile". He was shocked to learn because he was "undercover", that the Army wouldn't arm either him or his chopper. He told me he bought a Webley top break revolver on the black market and was very glad to have it.

To answer your question, I believe the S&W Model 10 would be issued to air crews, but it wouldn't surprise me if WW-II era S&W Victory models were also issued.

More knowledgeable folks will be along shortly to fill in the gaps.

Regards,

Dave
