I just purchased my first Model 629 and know absolutely nothing about them. Just wandered if there was anyone out there who would like to share their knowledge and experience with this gun. It has 8 3/8" barrel, stainless steel. Any idea of the going value for this gun?
The serial number is BAN8159. I couldn't find it in the book. Would like to know what year it was made. I estimate this gun to be about 95%. Just didn't know what they were going for. I paid less than $500 for it. Hope I didn't get taken.

Are you serious?

Sir what you have is not just a plain 629! It is a 629 made in 1989 with factory scope rings. These had a product code of 103615. There were 4810 of these made. The rings shipped with the gun but were made by Millet and will fit only this gun. Your rings are correct for the gun you have because they shipped the blued rings with the model 29 and the model 629. The gun you have was sent to Mag-Na-Port for the porting after it left the factory. Also these guns came from the factory with the Goncalo Alves type grips. At $500 this guns was a steal!

This is the 29 w/scope rings!

I agree with jcelect. If the rings and mounting cuts are factory, and they appear to be, that is NOT an ordinary 629-1. For $500, you have done very well.
